Thoughts

Another triumph for the might Sons of Sanguinius, as Brad brings home the win. Nothing particularly surprising about this build which piles in Death Company and some Van Vets with plenty of mobile MSU. When your infantry units can kill tanks, you don't really need anything else! Very well done on the event win.

Thoughts

A more diverse BA build here, packing some Lancers for hard target removal and a rhino for staging. You lose a little in certain match ups (notably the mirror if they go all infantry), but you gain the ability to keep enemy tanks honest from further away, and that can be very useful, as is the ability to punk transports early. BA are having a great summer, really well done on the top placing.

Thoughts

The Mutalith / Forgefiend build Brian Seipp brought to the world at WTC claims a podium place. There are more tools here to take on and remove marine bodies at range without committing your cabal point wielding units. I like the Daemon Prince here to provide Stealth and keep the assets alive that little bit longer too. With the adjustments to Twist of Fate, Forgefiends can be hitting at AP5, which is absolutely nuts! Really well done on the placing.

Sons of Russ Wolf Jail

Thoughts

Wolf Jail, but make it Russy. I love this list which jams in loads of Cavalry, packs in Bjorn for CP debuffing, but brings the Saga energy to gradually boost up LETHAL HITS, SUSTAINED HITS and OC over the game. If the Sagas get ticked off this thing becomes a runaway train very quickly and can be almost impossible for some armies to stop in time. Really well done on the top placing, AWOO!

Thoughts

The received wisdom on the Tsons versus Grey Knights match up has typically been that if the GK have Librarians it's a game, but if not they're in trouble. Being able to soak up some of the Psychic damage the Thousand Sons can put out is crucial, as is access to mortal wound sniping to keep Magnus honest. This GK build has the right tools, with triple Librarian and Draigo to offer a range of threats into the Thousand Sons, and Dreadknights to pick away at the army from distance.

That said, the Thousand Sons don't lack for ways to hurt the Grey Knights either. Temporal Surge allows them to play around Mists of Deimos, rendering a key GK defence useless at big moments in the game. There are lots of small scoring units and double Mutalith to stand out on points and force commitment from the Grey Knights, who will then start to bleed assets. Even with Librarian defences the smaller squads of Terminators can and will die if focused down hard by a number of Tsons units at once. All in all, this is a knife edge match up, and it looks like the Thousand Sons were able to narrowly prevail in a nail biter, very well done!

Thoughts

The whole charcuterie board of Thousand Sons nonsense on display here, with a big teleporting brick (with added slow via an Exalted on Disc for the Crystal), Mutaliths for some solidity, and MSU floaty goaties to screen and score. Thousand Sons have been a consistent event topper for months now, and we will have to see if they can weather the latest changes to indirect fire by leaning into their many other powerful tricks. You'd be daft to bet against them at this stage... Really well done on the event win!

Thoughts

Wraithguard- still good! A calculated call on the adjusting meta pays off for Quinton here, as people have taken their eyes of this brutal unit for quite some time now. Throw in a proper mix of MSU nonsense units and melee trade pieces and you have a brutal build that can body a flank with the WG whilst causing chaos everywhere else with the rest. You have to be a bit more cautious with the unit now (Fire and Fade sometimes rather than Phantasm bailing you out everytime feels logical now!) but it remains so, so dangerous. Really well done on the top placing.

Chaos Daemons love Pariah, and they love secret missions. This list gives you great tools to exploit both, with small trading units, blocking and tying from Seekers, Plaguebearers for stodgy battleline and sticky objectives, and big monsters that will end hopes and dreams if they get in close. Thoughts

CSM expert John takes another first place with his novel RR build, that goes big on Rhinos and forward pressure. Big Chosen bricks can cause mayhem when the time is right, Predators are especially good with the AP stacking the detachment provides, and the Warp Talons mini game keeps the opponent looking over their shoulder at all times. Highly effective, RR requires skilful piloting to hit the top spots but John is showing time and again he has what it takes. Really well done!

Thoughts

The raw power of Castigators, Immolators, and cheeky little Melta guns and Flamers darting around admist them continues to put up results! Bringers of Flame is quite linear at times, with a shooty, incisive game plan that lacks a bit for combat punch (though the Paragons assist at least a bit with this!). It is very effective and leans into everything that largely dodged points adjustments last time out. As long as you stagger your waves of assets and wait for an in you can grind down most armies in the game right now, but there is always an element of precarity, so an event win is well worth celebrating. Great work.

A mini Wolf Jail here, with smaller Thunderwolf packs allowing points to be freed up for some Lancer support and more mission play. Murderfang lurks ready to do awful things in a confined brawl at a clutch moment. Space Wolves have really blown up since the slate, with a tonne of different builds and expressions possible, and I am here for it. Awooo! Well done on the event win.

That's it for this week folks! I think the exciting thing about early-stage Pariah is the breakout from 'set' builds for the best factions in the game. There is genuinely a bunch of variants on most of the armies out there now in terms of detachment and build, and even the Indexes are throwing up real diversity in design.
