The Week Ending January 25th, 2020
Although it’s a big internet out there, the Warhammer digital universe is pretty small and spread out. In Content We Liked, we take a look at the articles, videos, podcasts, and products that caught our eyes or were noteworthy during the prior week you might have missed. Here’s what we liked this week:
In the Wild:
- Terry Pike's Gorgeous Wraithguard @TerryPike84 via Twitter These are just lovely and we can't wait to see the finished project.
- Kirsten Williams' Mounted Sisters @kirstenwilliams241 via Instagram A lovely paintjob on an inspired conversion using the Genestealer Cult Magus model.
- -eY">Paint a Start Collecting Box in 8 Hours Challenge Squidmar Miniatures via YouTube The Squidmar crew are taking on the ludicrous challenge of assembling and painting an entire Start Collecting box in 8 hours. They used Flesh-Eater Courts for this one.
- Chaplain Dreadnought Conversions Lou Rollins' Personal Blog With all the controversy around Chaplain Dreadnought conversions at LVO this week, it was cool to see someone doing something proactive about it. Lou's conversion looks great and can be made with spare parts.
- Evil Hat Productions' Notes on H P Lovecraft @EvilHatOfficial via Twitter We like the Cthulu mythos but Lovecraft was a reprehensible, racist piece of shit and too many modern works and companies that adapt or use his works skirt around that. It's refreshing to see Evil Hat take a strong stance on it and be more than willing to tell people that if they don't like it, then they don't want their money.
- The Warhammer Stats Engine by Uily A very cool stats and visualization tool for Warhammer
- Coda’s Painting Stream Twitch Coda streams at weird hours owing to being in Australia, but it’s worth your time to stop in on his stream when you can. He recently did a near 24-hour marathon stream with the new Sisters of Battle box.
On Goonhammer:
With the LVO 40k GT happening this weekend, most of our 40k-related thoughts turned to LVO. But it's not the only game out there.
- Video Game Review: Blasphemous by Jonathan Bernhardt Bernhardt looked at a wonderful 2D Dark Souls-like with a world and backstory that are thematically very reminiscent of everyone's favorite grimdark universe.
- Necromunday: Van Saar by Dan "SexCannon" Boyd and Merton The boys continue their in-depth gang coverage by talking about Van Saars this week.
- Warcry: State of the Bloodwind Spoil by Raf Cordero Raf takes a look back at Warcry's first year and talks about where the game has gone and where it might be headed.
- Horus Heresy Legion Overview: The Death Guard by LordTwisted Legion Overviews returned, with LordTwisted taking a long look at Mortarion's boys.
- How to Paint Everything: Human Skin by ZIVth, Evan "Felime" Siefring, and Lupercalcalcal In one of our most popular HTPEs to-date, we look at multiple methods for painting skin of different colors and tones, examining the art and science behind pigmentation.
- Roads to (and Letters from) LVO Various Authors Several Goonhammer authors are attending LVO this week and we're following along with their successes (and failures).
- The Narrative Forge: Path to Shame Various Authors Greg, Evan, and Kevin are starting new armies in 40k and embarking on a Path to Shame.
- New Kill Team Dispositions and Missions by Chucat, NovemberMIke, Condit, and Pendulin This month's White Dwarf had new content for Kill Team in the form of Team Dispositions and new missions. But are they good? The team investigates to find out.

- Hammer of Math: Calculus of the Damned by Kevin Genson and Robert “TheChirurgeon” Jones This week we looked at the math behind some of the new units, relics, and powers in the upcoming book Psychic Awakening 4: Ritual of the Damned.
