The Week Ending May 16th, 2020
Although it’s a big internet out there, the Warhammer digital universe is pretty small and spread out. In Content We Liked, we take a look at the articles, videos, podcasts, and products that caught our eyes or were noteworthy during the prior week you might have missed. Here’s what we liked this week:
One Really Big Thing:

Holy crap! Yesterday Games Workshop announced a new edition of Warhammer 40,000 along with loads of information about their strategy for the next year, which looks to include a massive new Necron release (new Warriors! The Silent King! New Spider Lychguard-looking things!) and of course, new primaris marines (now with chainswords!). You can read all about it on Warhammer-Community and read about our plans for covering 9th edition here.
In the Wild
- PART ONE: PUMP Otiosum via Vimeo, r/Warhammer40k Yeah OK that 9th trailer was cool but this is the best 3D animated video featuring marines to release this week and I will not brook any arguments to the contrary.
- I Just Want to Love Constructed Magic Again By Bryan Gottlieb, StarCityGames A few of our crew are Magic: The Gathering players going way back and while I don't agree with all of Bryan's points, this is a well-constructed article and I like the process behind it and what he's proposing.
- Kogan, Minotaur Warrior
Outstanding paint job and wonderful freehand work on the shirt. This mini knows how to ROCK.u/Zik_minis via r/minipainting
- FOR SHOVELRY! JHMIniatures via r/Ageofsigmar What a lovely conversion. Man, that guy's popping up everywhere. Also, they posted a tutorial.
- Arucatus the Swordbearer @TheForgeofMars via Twitter Don't tell anyone this but if you want ADB to notice you, all you gotta do is convert and paint a mini of a character from one of his books. That guy loves that shit. I mean, we do too, especially if you're gonna do as good a job as this.
- Industrial" frameborder="0"> Waste Facility Terrain Tutorial Dark Matter Workshop via YouTube This is a great tutorial and the result looks fantastic. Building terrain is the most fun part of the hobby, I swear.
- Pepe the Brave @jdelvalle via Instagram We promise it's not the stupid frog that CHUDs like. Instead, it's a lovely piece of art showing a Crimson Fists Lieutenant.
- Brian Jensen's Deredeo Dreadnought @by_bribri via Instagram Love the color on this Salamanders dreadnought, and the flames and lava base are a great touch.

- Start Competing Imperium Soup Tactics By James "One_Wing" Grover With the major factions done and just a few in need of updates, we thought we'd dive into some soup tactics, and how all these pieces fit together for Imperium armies.

- Battle Bros: How to Lose at 40k Without Really Trying by Head58 and PantsOptional Battle Brothers continues this week, with more back-and-forth, discussion of narrative play, and new graphics and headers!

- Kill Team Tactics: Sisters of Silence By Thundercloud, Shane Watts, and Robert “TheChirurgeon” Jones Guest Author Leon Smith joins Goonhammer to talk about how to play the Gellerpox Infected in Kill Team.
That’s all for this week, stay tuned to Goonhammer for more great articles in the next seven days, and give us a shout in the comments below or at contact@goonhammer.com if you have any feedback or questions.
