Necromunday: Scumathon Adepticon Kickoff Recap

by Hive Market Minis | Apr 13 2026

Happy Necromunday, dear scummers! We're kicking off the final week of this year's Scumathon kitbashing event, and thought it would be an ideal time to share some standout progress from across the community to celebrate the incredible work thus far and help replenish those creative juice reservoirs for the final push! Remember, submissions are due by Friday, April 17th - and must me submitted on the official event discord.

What is Scumathon, you ask? An annual online event focusing on the modeling side of our hobby while celebrating creativity, community, and a shared passion for gluing stuff together in search of fun, unexpected, and inspiring results. We've got the full details over here.

We'll be taking submissions for our official competition categories through April 17th, and you're welcome to share what you're working on whether it's for entry, for feedback, or just for fun. Now, let's look at some models!

Adepticon Event

This year's biggest change was adding a physical kitbashing kickoff party at Adepticon to line up with the start of the online event.

I flew to Milwaukee with a suitcase full of partially used sprues, with Goonhammer's own Fowler and our pal Dale of JD in the Sump Sea adding hefty stacks from their own plastic hoards.

We ended up with folks kitbashing for almost eight full hours, and it turns out setting everyone loose on a pile of random goodies facilitates both solid and surprising results. I'll share more about the event in the near future so we can skip ahead to the models!

Scumathon, being an International event, had Damon of Wellywood Wargaming joining us all the way from Australia to give Necromunda some arrow-in-the-knee treatment with his piece.

Our buddy Mike of Tempest Terrain also popped by from the UK and got some solid progress in on one of his submissions, assembling a Dustback Helamite, without instructions, dragging some "precious cargo" through the wastes.

As for the more local crowd, Erick of @goobinsgitz fame joined us from the other side of the country to show off his sculpting skills.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Shaun @particulate_x as he whipped together a little Perfect Pairing entry of his own.

Last year's Best in Show winner, Ben of @purp_miniatures, swung by and started some monstrous models!

We had a great showing of folks, and I personally learned what I can do and bring to make for a smoother event next year! Here's a group shot of models from folks who stuck around for several hours on the legendary Sump Wall board Dale had set up for gaming!

Online Roundup

I also solicited folks for some of their work and WIPs to share out after the first week, and here's what we landed with!

@hartzakjauna whipped up a delightfully monstrous mount and rider!

That's going to wrap it up for today! Once again, we'll be taking entries for our submission categories through April 17th over on the discord, and feel free to reach out to me over there or on Instagram with any questions. Happy building!
